Ty Dolla $ign connects with J. Cole for new single "Purple Emoji"

ABC/Randy Holmes

ABC/Randy HolmesAfter a weeks-long tease, Ty Dolla $ign has made good on his promise to deliver new music to fans with the J. Cole-assisted single "Purple Emoji."

Over the dialed-down ballad, Ty and Cole reflect on their relationship woes with their significant others. The record marks the first time both artists have collaborated on wax.

Ahead of the song's release, the R&B crooner revealed that he had connected with Cole in New York City months prior to bringing the effort to life.

"@realcoleworld and I came up with this jam a few months back in NYC and off top I knew it was the first one I wanted y’all to hear," Ty shared in an Instagram post last week.

"Purple Emoji" is to serve as the lead single off Ty's forthcoming third studio album, which doesn't have a title yet.

However, fans can certainly expect an accompanying visual to arrive for the new single as noted by Ty's most recent Instagram posts
